About Dr. Helen AI
We are building the care team every mother should have: one that knows her, listens to her, and speaks up when something needs a doctor's attention.
Our mission
In the United States, Black women are nearly three times as likely to die from pregnancy-related causes as white women, and most of those deaths are preventable. The difference is rarely the medicine. It is whether a woman’s symptoms are heard, recorded, and acted on in time.
Dr. Helen AI exists to close that gap. We provide culturally competent, personalized maternal healthcare support through advanced AI technology and a comprehensive support network, from planning a pregnancy through the first year after birth.
What we build
A membership platform with 29 AI care-team members, an obstetrician, a psychiatrist, doulas, counselors, and specialists in nutrition, fitness, legal and financial questions and more, working together over one health record that belongs to the member. Every one of them is AI and says so: the “ai” in each name is the disclosure.
The care team tracks readings and check-ins, alerts the member when something needs a clinician’s attention, prepares documents in the form a doctor reads before every appointment, and connects her to a licensed human professional by video when it is urgent. Members also find private community groups and a directory of human providers.
How we work
- Privacy first. A HIPAA-compliant platform. Health information is encrypted, never sold, and leaves the platform only on the member’s instruction.
- Honest about AI. Our AI care-team members never pretend to be human, never give a medical all-clear, and tell you plainly when to call your doctor or 911.
- Built with the community. Our models learn the way our members actually speak from the community itself, with people, never a model, deciding what their words mean.
For providers
Obstetricians, midwives, doulas, and other maternal-health professionals can join Dr. Helen AI as verified peers, work with the AI team on their own patients and projects, and choose to be listed in our provider directory.
